The Opportunity
Here at The Kids our vision is
simple; Happy, Healthy Kids! We want kids to be able to live their lives to the
healthiest and happiest, right here in our community - and around the world.
The Kids have an overarching commitment to address the inequity of the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and families.
Our Healthy Skin team play an important role in achieving this vision with a wide range of projects that discover, treat and prevent infectious diseases, with a focus on the health of kids and families in Aboriginal communities.
The Healthy Skin Team are looking to recruit an Aboriginal project coordinator to ensure Aboriginal people and communities are appropriately represented and the research is conducted in a culturally safe manner. We now have an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal Trial Coordinator to support culturally safe implementation of the ISAAC (Invasive Streptococcus A: Antibiotic prophylaxis for Contact management) Trial—a national, long-term study investigating how best to prevent invasive Group A Strep (iGAS) among people living with someone diagnosed with iGAS.
This role is central to ensuring Aboriginal leadership and governance throughout the ISAAC Trial. Responsibilities include providing cultural guidance to study coordinators nationally, overseeing Aboriginal-specific ethics and engagement, co-designing culturally appropriate materials, building strong community relationships, and developing educational resources on iGAS and skin health.
You will be supported by an experienced project team and have the opportunity to contribute to the following activities:
You will have an opportunity to work with influential researchers and health organisations in WA and around Australia, ensure research activities align with Aboriginal cultural values, protocols, and practices, and advise on culturally appropriate data collection methods.
Conveniently located within the Perth Children’s Hospital, this full-time opportunity will be offered on an ongoing basis. We are open to discussing the possibility of part-time hours and/or flexible start and finish times, dependent on the successful candidates.
