About NAAFLS
The North Australian Aboriginal Family Legal Service (NAAFLS) is a not-for-profit organisation delivering holistic legal and support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence. With offices across the Top End, our work is grounded in cultural respect, community collaboration, and self-determination.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and culturally grounded Case Worker to join our dynamic team. In this rewarding role, you’ll support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients with non-legal assistance—helping them navigate complex systems, achieve their goals, and access the support they need.
You’ll work alongside a passionate legal team and community service providers, building strong relationships and delivering practical, on-the-ground support. Whether it’s helping someone attend court, organising referrals, or simply being there during a tough moment, you’ll be part of real change.
With a focus on cultural respect, collaboration, and trust, we’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills, cultural insight, and a strong sense of purpose. You’ll have the chance to use your lived experience and community knowledge to make a genuine impact every day!
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with solicitors to develop and implement culturally appropriate case plans
- Provide holistic, non-legal support to clients, including referrals and advocacy
- Assist clients with appointments, transport, applications, and service access
- Support clients during court appearances, child protection meetings, and other sensitive processes
- Build strong, culturally respectful relationships with clients and stakeholders in remote communities
- Travel regularly to remote Top End communities as part of outreach and service delivery
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of Community Legal Education (CLE) sessions
- Maintain accurate client records and uphold data integrity in NAAFLS systems
- Promote continuous improvement, safe practices, and cultural respect across the team
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and ongoing professional development
