Through our Murri Sisters Mobile Support Service (MSMSS), we provide outreach and case support for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV).

About the Role:

Murri Sisters Mobile Support Service (MSMSS) is a program of Five Bridges Ltd, an Aboriginal-led, not-for-profit committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through culturally grounded services that strengthen connection, capacity, and wellbeing.

MSMSS delivers mobile, cultural support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children, and young people experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV). Working closely with local stakeholders, we maintain strong ties to culture, tradition, and Country. Our team ensures that the needs of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous families are met with care, safety, and respect.

We are currently seeking a First Nations DFV Support Worker & Cultural Advisor to join our team, with a focus on both community-based support and participation in the Redlands High Risk Team (HRT). This combined role provides frontline support for women and families experiencing DFV, while also delivering cultural advice and advocacy to ensure service responses are trauma-informed, culturally safe, and aligned with local protocols, kinship systems, language, and community needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander advocate, providing cultural guidance and victim-survivor support.
  • Build strong networks and pathways to culturally appropriate DFV supports.
  • Offer advice on integrated service responses (ISRs) considering kinship, language, local protocols, and community needs.
  • Work closely with the Positive Relationship Cultural Connector (PRCC) and Integration Manager to enhance cultural capability within HRTs.
  • Support HRT case management for women and collaborate with specialist case workers to ensure a holistic, culturally safe response.
  • Refer and assess high-risk DFV cases and provide guidance on suitable service pathways.
  • Monitor victim-survivor consent, Safety Management Plans, and keep Infoxchange records up to date.
  • Contribute to continual improvement by identifying service gaps, barriers, and opportunities for better HRT operations.
  • Champion cultural capability across agency and system levels through training, knowledge sharing, and embedded awareness practices.

Essential Criteria:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Knowledge of DFV dynamics within First Nations communities
  • Strong cultural connections and ability to work with diverse family structures
  • Currently hold or are undertaking a vocational qualification (e.g., Certificate III or Diploma) DFV, or human services
  • Ability to work collaboratively with agencies and provide culturally safe communication
  • Current Blue Card, Police Check (or willingness to obtain), First Aid & CPR
  • Driver’s License and reliable transport

Desirable:

  • Experience in case management, safety planning, and working with both victim-survivors and persons using violence
