This is a designated Aboriginal-identified role suited to someone who thrives in a culturally grounded, person-led environment focused on healing, advocacy, and positive outcomes for Aboriginal families.

About the Role

This is a frontline role supporting Aboriginal children, young people, and families through culturally safe, trauma-informed care. The position offers a diverse and rewarding scope, combining case management, family support, group work, outreach, and community education with a particular lens on early childhood development, domestic and family violence (DFV) prevention, and language and cultural revitalisation.

You will work as part of a transdisciplinary team alongside clinicians, midwives, health workers, and allied health practitioners to deliver integrated, holistic care across the lifespan.

Key responsibilities include:

* Conducting wellbeing assessments and developing culturally respectful case plans

* Delivering health education and facilitating group sessions focused on parenting, AOD awareness, DFV support, and healthy lifestyles

* Supporting families to navigate systems such as housing, Centrelink, education, child protection, and NDIS

* Coordinating referrals and collaborating with local services to ensure wrap-around support

* Advocating for clients’ needs, building community trust, and strengthening cultural identity through care

* Supporting early learning transitions, promoting child development milestones, and ensuring safety for women and children impacted by DFV

* Contributing to the revitalisation of Darkinjung language and cultural knowledge through group activities, family programs, and community education

To succeed in this role, you will have:

* Demonstrated experience supporting Aboriginal families, children, or young people

* Skills in family-focused and child-centred practice, including developmental and educational support

* Knowledge of maternal, child, youth health, mental health, DFV, and AOD impacts

* Confidence supporting families impacted by domestic and family violence, using trauma-informed strategies

* Ability to develop and monitor case plans and support outcomes through coordinated care

* Experience supporting language or cultural revitalisation and embedding cultural practice in daily work

* Excellent written, verbal, and digital communication skills

* High standards in client documentation and confidentiality

Essential Requirements

* Aboriginality and connection to community

* Understanding of early childhood development frameworks and case management practices

* Current NSW Working With Children Check

* Satisfactory National Police Check (no serious/criminal/court record)

* Current NSW Driver’s Licence

* Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in community, health, education or social services

Desirable

* Trauma-informed and cultural safety engagement

* Familiarity with systems such as NDIS, DFV services, and child protection

* CPR and First Aid certification

* Ability to use client management systems (e.g. Best Practice)

Why Join EDAS?

* Be part of a proud Aboriginal organisation

* Make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families

* Participate in cultural and language revitalisation efforts

* Work in a collaborative, culturally safe, and supportive team

* Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

* Competitive salary under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award
