Through an internal expression of interest, our newly created Aboriginal Outcomes Branch is seeking two Senior Aboriginal Programs Officers.

About You

You will provide strategic policy advice and project management to a range of DCCEEW business groups, to enhance cultural responsiveness and capacity to drive high quality Aboriginal outcomes. You will play a vital role by leading the branch’s research portfolio, to establish strong evidence-based approaches to policy and project design. You will play a lead role in monitoring the performance of key initiatives to ensure that accurate, timely data is available to measure success.

Aboriginal Outcomes Branch

DCCEEW recently established a new Aboriginal Outcomes Branch (AOB) to strengthen our capacity to deliver quality Aboriginal Outcomes. The team will design and implement a range of strategic business plans across DCCEEW to drive better Aboriginal outcomes. The team is focused on enhancing visibility of Aboriginal initiatives, streamlining performance management and establishing a strong and credible evidence base. The team will develop an Aboriginal Outcomes Strategy for 2025/26 to consolidate more than 240 current Aboriginal initiatives under one cohesive program.

 

Essential Requirements

This is an identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding Aboriginal Culture and an excellent understanding of Aboriginal community governance and structures.
