The Job

The role of the Entry Point Team Leader is to provide leadership and operational support the Aboriginal Specific Homelessness Entry Point. The role will ensure that the Entry Point team delivers a high standard of services to clients through a culturally designed, strengths-based approach, meets their performance targets, and operates within the program budget.

The Team Leader is responsible for:

  • Leading, mentoring, supporting, and motivating Entry Point workers with the necessary support, supervision, training, and guidance to ensure quality service provision to clients
  • Support new staff during induction, providing leadership in intake and assessment processes and role-modelling service delivery expectations
  • Enabling staff to achieve their individual targets through the effective distribution and management of caseloads
  • Ensuring services are of high quality and comply with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) Standards
  • Provide leadership in support of quality compliance across the Program, and provide regular advice, information and support to the Manager
  • Uphold the principles of the Mana-na Woorn-Tyeen Maar-Takoort Framework and Housing First Principles
  • Ensure Aboriginal cultural practise and principles are upheld throughout program responses
  • Support clients who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness, including liaising with the community, assessing client needs, co-ordinating intake, advocating on behalf of clients, supporting with education, employment and integration into social and community networks
  • Assess and document client needs, participate in interagency working committees and co-ordinate intake processes
  • Coordinate and deliver timely and accurate internal / external reports as required

Your Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Significant experience and understanding of Housing and Homelessness systems and their effects on the Aboriginal Community
  • Demonstrated leadership, line management and case management experience including inspiring a team and fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, unique health challenges and social issues faced by the Aboriginal Community, and commitment to the Aboriginal community
  • Networking skills to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including local health services, law enforcement agencies, and Aboriginal organisations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi skilled team as well as independently with initiative
  • Commitment to the care and support of homeless and disadvantaged men, women, youth and families
  • Desirable – Certificate IV in Social Housing or related

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Victorian Driver’s License
  • National Police Certificate (no older than 6 months).
  • Victorian Employment Working with Children Check
  • Minimum 2 Covid19 Vaccination
